Gamers rejoice! The remastered versions of Lunar: The Silver Star Story Complete and Lunar 2: The Eternal Blue Complete hit the shelves today, marking their first appearance on modern consoles. Developed by the small Japanese studio Game Arts and published by GungHo Online Entertainment, this collection is a tribute to classics beloved by many since the Mega CD/Sega CD days, and later on PlayStation and Sega Saturn.

What's New in the Remaster?

This updated collection offers enhanced visuals, widescreen support, and improved cutscene videos with subtitles available in English, Japanese, French, and German. Furthermore, it boasts an entirely new voice-over cast and features a PlayAnywhere option.

Community Reactions Shine Through

The feedback from the community reflects a mix of excitement and nostalgia:

  • Physical Edition Availability: "Thereโ€™s a physical edition for Xbox too, I was under the impression we werenโ€™t getting one,โ€ one user noted.

  • Limited U.S. Preorders: Others confirmed that while the physical edition was available in Europe, U.S. preorders didn't happen until now, creating a bit of a stir.

  • Longtime Fans Enthusiastic: โ€œCanโ€™t get enough Lunar. One of my favorite series,โ€ expressed a longtime fan, eager to own the games across platforms.

Not Without Criticism

However, not all responses were overwhelmingly positive. Some pointed out the absence of Korean language support in the Xbox versionโ€”a feature present in other platforms. โ€œThis is why Xbox failed in Korea,โ€ said one disappointed commenter.

Key Reactions and Takeaways

  • ๐ŸŒŸ Majority of comments reflect positivity about the remasters.

  • ๐Ÿ”— Physical editions only confirmed through Amazon and limited sites.

  • โŒ Xbox lacks Korean support, reflecting ongoing regional challenges.

โ€œI remember playing this on PS1 back in my day. I'll be buying it on PlayStation I think to keep the nostalgia there.โ€
